PAST EVENTS

Creative Intersections: A Call to Action
On June 11, 2007, the local business and arts communities gathered at the Waterloo Regional Children's Museum and King Street Theatre Centre for Creative Intersections: A Call to Action.

At our inaugural Prosperity Forum in 2003, participants identified the need to develop infrastructure capable of sustaining a vibrant regional arts and cultural sector. Organized through the efforts of a dedicated group of business and cultural leaders, the Creative Intersections event formally commenced a strategic planning process for supporting the many dynamic opportunities that are emerging within the region.

Speakers included Dr. James Fleck, Chair, Business for the Arts, Dr. Ken Coates, Dean, Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo, and Jim Balsillie, Co-Chief Executive Officer, Research In Motion.

2004 Prosperity Forum
A Prosperity Forum was held on November 4, 2004.  This event picked up on the key directions derived at the 2003 Prosperity Forum, designed to move our economy from good to great. A number of actions were identified  to confirm our regional economy's path for the future.

John Doherty, Managing Partner, Gowlings and John Bell, President & CEO, Polymer Technologies Inc. co-chaired this important meeting.

2003 Prosperity Forum
The first annual Prosperity Forum was held on on February 3, 2003.  The objective for participants at this event was:

"To identify, champion and hold ourselves collectively responsible for the tangible directions required over the next decade to ensure prosperity for our region, so that we can become the best we can be."

The guest speaker was Jim Milway, Executive Director of the Institute for Competitiveness and Prosperity. Local business leaders, government representatives, business organizations and associations attended.
